The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. Psalms 51:17 (KJV)

If it doesn’t mean anything in the heart God doesn’t regard it. What does this inform you, it means God despises some sacrifices, offerings, prayer of forgiveness and accepts some based on the condition of the mind. Regarding Cain and Abel, one was refused but the latter was accepted based on the pureness and truthfulness of his heart. Genesis 4:3-7. Reverence for God is key and a determinant of whether He will accept our offerings, praise or forgive our sins, if mercy means nothing to you; mercy will be lacking in your life.

This was the difference between King Saul and David, the former wasn’t broken when he offended, and he blamed the people for his sin instead of taking responsibility and true repentance.1Samuel 15:20-22.

Psalms 51 was as a result of David’s sin which he committed against Uriah the Hittite, he was truly broken, sincere and showed great desire for God’s presence; this was the difference between the two. Today’s devotion is not encouraging sin, but rather teaching us how we should regard God in times of trials. God does not despise a sincere heart, if you have been cheating people, and giving offerings with it, its hypocrisy and evil before God, repent completely and forsake the old ways. You can be truthful and still make it, you don’t have to be crooked before you can make it, and it’s a fat lie from the devil. It pays to be clean.

Today’s thought: “Repentance is from the heart not from the lips; change starts in the heart.”

Keynote: Always ask for God’s mercy and give Him your best at all times.

Counsel: Flee from sin; resist it by filling yourself with His word. The word of God is a defense wall against sin.

Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus, grant me the grace to be sincere in my dealings with you in Jesus mighty name, amen. I always receive grace to do the right things.
