Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was a herdsman, and a gatherer of sycamore fruit: And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel. Amos 7:14-15 KJV
I have realized that people of great impact don’t always have a favorable background. In fact, the odds are against them most of the time to succeed. Despite the prevailing immediate circumstances they still find a way to stand tall amidst challenges by committing themselves to a particular course and giving it all it takes. People like this always show a high sense of responsibility, focus, grit and desire to make an impact. Amos is a practical scriptural example that had nothing to do with the office of a prophet, not even his father operated in that realm. By qualifications he wasn’t qualified to be a prophet. But he serviced his life and kept busy, that was why God picked him. He said but I was a herdsman, this was the qualifying character God looks for in a man, He doesn’t commit serious matters to lazy people. So maybe next time before you lament how unfavorable your background is for you to make it you should consider asking yourself whether you’re a serious person or a lazy man. And for you that have been working the Lord said to tell you that all your delays are over in Jesus name. Your background is not what matters, what matters is your response to work.
Instead of lazing around and discussing how you’ve never gotten any opportunity or someone to help you, the energy should be channeled into something productive. Amos was a herdsman and a fruit picker, he wasn’t idle, this was what gave him direction. It was in the place of taking care of his flocks that God noticed him and picked him up. Brethren, the factor of background will always be there most especially if you’re from Africa, but to deny yourself from engaging in productive activities is to deny yourself and the generation after you a chance of making it. You must stand up for yourself and for those who are dependent on you to make sense. Look for something and get busy. Be sold out to your mission and surely it will take you places you never expected.
Prayer of the Day: God will bring you to your seat of glory in Jesus name. Every curse from my background preventing me from going farther is destroyed by the fire of God in Jesus’ name. It is your season of all possibilities.
