Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV
What you are surrounded with determines what you gain or lose. The world today is filled with lots of distractions that aim to challenge our faith and convictions in God and until there is a deliberate step to avoid these distractions that comes mostly in the form of sin, man will not move forward toward the ultimate goal. What is the weight? And the sin that so easily ensnares you? Could it be murmuring, complaining, bitterness against God and man, lost, lying, stealing, cowardly and so on. You must lay them down and focus and do your holy service to God. Serving and choosing to follow God is a strong dedication that comes with a series of tests which requires great endurance in order to achieve the ultimate goal of heaven. The prize to be won is Jesus, that’s why the Bible encouraged us to look up to Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith. If Jesus is the prize to be won at last, it is enough motivation to keep you going and ignoring the many temptations of sin. Don’t forget the Bible also said many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from all of them. Endurance with understanding is the key that will make you not fall into temptations and still show you great light in the midst of so much despair and temptations.
Today’s thought: “What surrounds you determines what you can gain and survive.”
Keynote: Focus on the end result and not the process.
Counsel: God is watching your every move and what you do will determine your place with God and men.
Prayer: Help me Lord not to end badly, I receive the grace to lay aside things that are weighing me down and the boldness to look up to You for help daily in Jesus’ name, amen.
