For behold, I have made you this day a defensed city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land. And they shall fight against you; but they shall not prevail against you; for I am with you, says the LORD to deliver you. Jeremiah 1: 18-19 KJV
Cambridge Dictionary defines a safety net as a system to help those who have serious problems and no other form of help. From the Biblical perspective I defined a safety net as the protection of God upon the life of His children who obey and carry out His instructions and will for their life: it’s a system that God uses to protect people who are functioning under His will. Right from inception, anyone found in the will of God has always been targeted for destruction by the devil, and only the power of God has been saving those who are doing His will for their lives. Jeremiah after accepting the will of God, was told by God that He will defend him and protect him from any form of attack. The meaning of this is that, to be found in the will of God is to be protected by God. Functioning under the plan and purpose of God is the guarantee for protection from evil. When you’re doing your own thing you protect it yourself, but if it is God, He protects you and ensures the successful delivery of your service. The system of protection from God favours only those who are under His leadership.
It doesn’t matter who wants you dead, humiliated and frustrated in life, if you want to counter their attacks, get established in the will of God. No enemy gang up of the highest order could take Daniel down, because he was established in the will of God. The attempt to kill Elijah by king Ahab failed, because Elijah was functioning in God’s plan for his life. So long as David remained in God, he fought many battles and lost none. If you’re tired of being knocked down, it is time to check for a loose connection. Until the connection is fixed, the devil will cheat you over and over again. The loose connection might be that you’re functioning outside of God’s will and plan for your life and you have failed to seek Him first. But if after you’ve searched yourself and you happen to be on the right path, make demands of God’s protection upon your life and remind Him of this Bible verse above and many others that you’ll discover by yourself. God protects the obedient.
Today’s thought: “When the will of God is obeyed and attended to, His power is released in that direction.”
Keynote: The protection of God is readily available for those who do His will and are obedient to His word.
Counsel: Discover the will of God for your life. Find out the problem you’re created to solve. The purpose you’re created for and serve therein and the protection rest upon you.
Prayer: LORD, I ask for the grace to dwell in Your will for my life. May my obedience to Your words create a wall of defense around me in the name of Jesus, amen.
