35 Jesus wept. 36 Then said the Jews, Behold how He loved him! John 11: 35-36 KJV

Talk is cheap, but showing concern and empathy has to come from inside. Showing that you care is not something that just happens, if you don’t put your legs in the shoes of another you’ll never know where it hurts. You must first be human to understand what others are going through. Most people think the best way to show concern is by giving out money, but that is not it. People desire someone who understands their groaning and will tell them it shall be well and that I am here with you. Jesus upon receiving the news that Lazarus had died, wept. He didn’t try to blame Lazarus for not living healthy or criticizing his inadequacies like most people do today, they’ll judge you before understanding you. He went to the grave where Lazarus was buried and Lazarus rose from the dead by the power of God. Love and its demonstration plus the understanding that Jesus showed was what I believe triggered the prayer that brought Lazarus back to life.

Where empathy is lacking, it will be more about you. When you fail to show concern, your life will be categorized by selfishness, it will be centered on what you want and not how you can help others. Events that you can’t control are not up for arguments in order to score cheap points, use those events to show concern and understanding that is how you help people. People feel helped and cared for when you share in their moments and try to understand their points of view. Don’t make being with people all about you, learn to adjust to others and render assistance where possible without spoiling it with arrogance or exercise of power and seniority.

Today’s thought: “The show of concern and understanding towards the situation of another person will always do better than mere talks.”

Keynote: Show concern to what people are going through. Kindness and understanding others can help them to overcome unfavorable moments of pain and grief.

Counsel: Don’t be comfortable inside what is causing another person discomfort. Reason with one another and find out how to be of help. When you have understanding you will know what to say and how to act sincerely towards others.

Prayer: Dear LORD, I ask for the grace to understand people better. May my actions don’t increase the hurt of another person or cause hurt to anyone. Help me Lord to show real concern and become a source of strength for those going through rough times. May my actions always give hope to me and others, so help me God, amen.
