And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment. 1Chronicles 12:32 KJV

This happened to be a time when men from different tribes were pledging allegiance to David as the one whom the Lord has anointed to be king over Israel in the stead of Saul. David received tremendous help from God and all manner of people of high repute were coming in to show their support for his cause. From verse one of 1Chronicles chapter 12; it recorded men of valor, people who are skilled in war who have mastered the art of battlefield submitting to the command of David. In verse 32, we saw the children of Issachar also coming to offer their services to David, the first time none warriors will be declaring their support. They had understanding of the times and this attracted all their brethren to them. Others had physical strength that was well built for battle and were able-bodied men but only the tribe of Issachar had understanding of the seasons. The revelation here is that everybody is relevant in the body of Christ. Know your role and play it well.

Their understanding was a unique kind, it was a relevant one, it’s not the kind of knowledge that you don’t get to use, it’s the kind that informs one about how to respond to current life situations. Understanding therefore is knowing what to do per time and applying yourself to do it. What every man and woman needs is understanding. Once you get understanding everything will hear you. How do I get this understanding? You must first seek the Lord in all you do, afterwards commit your ways to Him and do not lean on your own strength and understanding as was recommended in Proverbs 3:5-6. Spend time praying and you’ll become wise and knowledgeable. And then to acquire more understanding and to gain mastery in the things of the spirit you must remain in prayers asking the Lord for the good ways, and walk therein Jeremiah 6:16.

Today’s Thought: “Full maximization of opportunity is possible when understanding is available.”

Keynote: Understanding is working smartly and enjoying unending help from the LORD.

Counsel: Make understanding your primary goal this month, seek to know better and spice up your prayer life with deep hunger and desperation to know the ways of God concerning every issue of your life.

Prayer: Help my life O Lord and show me great reward in the works of my hand. I receive the grace to know what every moment of my life requires in Jesus Mighty Name. I shall never suffer from lack of understanding and miss my direction in life in Jesus Name I pray, amen.
