Why do you want what you want? Why do you want that job? Why do you desperately want to pass that exam? Why do you need that business to succeed? God is a God of all knowledge and wisdom, He knows your innermost thoughts and intentions that no one knows.

In 1Kings 3, when God asked Solomon what he wanted, Solomon asked God for understanding to judge and to govern the people. He asked for God’s help to execute his assignment properly. Solomon’s selfless request attracted the blessings of riches and honor upon his life. We often remember Solomon as a wealthy man but pay no attention to the fact that it was his pure motive that allured such riches. Is what you are pursuing going to help you carry out God’s will and purpose for your life? Will it please God? Pursue purpose, strive to do your assignment well and it will bring the blessings of riches and honor.

Do you want to pass that exam or get that job because you want to prove a point to people around you? Or you want to show that you are better than others? Or do you want it because it will take you a step further to achieving God’s will for your life? Do not waste your time having canal motives and reasons for wanting to achieve certain things in life because it will only delay you. When your motives are not pure, the tendency for you to struggle to achieve heights in life is there and frustration would also tag along. Something that could have taken you months to achieve might become years because of the wrong motive.

Quit competing with people or trying to make a statement by your achievement and focus on how you can use that aspired accomplishment to please God. From experience, I can tell you that even a justified aspiration can be delayed or even aborted because of the wrong motive. Search your heart today and expel every negative, selfish and proud intention, so that, speed and God’s blessings may rest upon you.
