Quit underestimating yourself and feeling you are worth nothing or not good enough to achieve anything or certain things in life. Be happy about who God says you are despite your present state. Do not give into the idea that you are not enough, if you do, you have failed and written off hope before giving yourself another chance. You become what you believe which translates to your reality.

The truth is what you carry matters. When what you are carrying is great, the tendency for your struggles to be more than others is there. The rot you might be in now is what will sharpen you for greatness. There is a lesson to be learnt in every situation. Quit focusing on the problem and learn the lesson or else the problem might be prolonged till you learn it.

Remember the story of David in the Bible, who was anointed king and yet he was on the run to save his life. Those years of struggle were a test on what kind of king he would become. Was he going to use his might to force his way to the throne? Or was he going to let God take the lead? David knew the throne was his and he was patient to let God place him there in God’s own time. God put David on the throne when he was ready; after he had learnt to let God be his guide ( he put God first in the decisions he made, that was why all his battles were successful). The patience he learnt when he ran from Saul helped him when his son Absalom took his throne from him. He did not use the strength of his army but relied on God to give him back what belonged to him.

Your life’s challenge is a test and training you need for your time of greatness. Do not let your present situation make you hide yourself from the world. Pick yourself up and step out. It does not matter if you have failed several times, what is important is that you get up from wallowing in your failure.

When I was writing my professional exams, I failed two of my courses. I felt so ashamed and frustrated that it took me four years to step up and study again and pass those papers. In those years I hid myself from the world. It seemed like as I moved around, people could see my failure. I was too afraid to do anything else. I remained in the rot of low self-esteem. Afraid to fail again, wondering if I was good enough, forgetting that there were other aspects of my life that I was not a failure at. Using a single situation to define myself left me with a long list of lessons learnt and wasted time that can only be restored by God. Do not be like me of old, wasting your years drawing conclusions about yourself based on one event or area of your life and reducing your self-worth to nothing.

Get up and step out of that rot. Do not be afraid to fail. Your present situation does not define you. It will pass like everything else. What is important is have you learnt your lesson? Have you equipped yourself with how to tackle such a problem if it arises again? Moses ran away because of his failed first attempt to rescue the Israelis from Egypt. You know his name today because he was able to pick himself up from the initial incidence and rise to leadership despite his speech deficiency.

You are worth more than you think. You are a leader, rise to the position and quit hiding.
