When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the son of man am? Matthew 16: 13 KJV
There are indicators in the life of every man that point to the kind of person he/she is, and these indicators are what will tell whether the person will be long-lived or short-lived. You can hide your character from people but it cannot be stopped from exposing you. Simply put, character is how you display or react to God, people and happenings. It is what makes you peculiar from others. Character is the sustenance to any venture in life, when it is punctured, life becomes deflated and burdensome. There are various pillars of character, among which are the perception of people towards a person, loyalty, humility, word integrity, financial integrity and moral integrity.
Perception of others towards you is our consideration for today. If your immediate family and those that surround you cannot vouch for you as an upright person, and as one who fears God and shuns evil, then it calls for re-examination of one’s actions and ways of operation. People can make suggestions and even have an opinion concerning your work, but what they perceive about you is a product of your actions. The way people perceive you determines if they can listen and value your words. Sometimes it is important to pause, listen and evaluate what people’s opinions are, take the ones that will be helpful to you and make amends and trash what needs to be trashed. Don’t ever confuse critics for opinion. Don’t confuse the voice of correction with the voice of discouragement. In the name of Jesus’ begin to function under the influence of the spirit of discernment.
Prayer of the Day: The Lord helps me to practice the right principles, to maintain the right thought, to associate with quality people and to value the presence of the Lord always in Jesus’ name, amen.
