Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. James 1:22-25 NIV
One major problem with mankind today is that men hear a lot and do very little. With so much information at the disposal of man but man still struggles to make use of the information, why is it so? Because of laziness and lack of willpower and the desire to turn into action what they’ve received. In 1 Corinthians 4:20, we were meant to understand that the kingdom of God is not only about talking and hearing but in power as well. Power is what authenticates the hearing, which is why our hearing must be continuous and our action should be backed by what we’ve heard. Faith comes by hearing Romans 10:17, if your faith is activated by hearing the words of God, you must test the faith by going into action. Doers are achievers. Put to work what you’ve heard and watch it as it yields fruits.
You can be a good listener and a bad implementor, it is not what people hear that makes them, it is what they do with what they hear that makes them meaningful in life. If you don’t use what you hear you’ll never know if it’s working or not. It is risky to do nothing with what you’ve heard. Information plays two roles, either to use it to achieve something or to use it to avoid something, never stand in between doing nothing.
Prayer of the Day: I receive divine enablement to do the right things at all times in Jesus’ name. This month of November 2021 will satisfy me early in Jesus’ mighty name. I declare this month and this week opened for you in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. Receive grace to get in this month all your expectations for the year, amen. God will give you tangible testimony.
