For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, You shall eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that you came. He said to him, I am a prophet also as you are; and an angel spoke to me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied to him. 1Kings 13: 17-18 KJV
Here is a man of God whom the Lord had instructed and warned him strictly not to go to anyone’s house to eat bread and told him not to return by the same road he came. He was to deliver a message and return back to his base, but his inability to discern that the means God spoke to him is still the same means He’ll speak to him again if ever He (God) wanted to give him a new instruction. An old prophet who dwelled in the town came to him and lied to him that an angel asked him to come and eat bread, and he followed the old prophet to his house to eat and that was the beginning of his troubles. God will never bypass an obedient son/daughter who is carrying out His command, He doesn’t leave the obedient voiceless. Before God will tell another person about you, you must either be living in disobedience or lacking ability to see and hear from God.
God can send people or speak to someone to tell you about an important detail you’re missing or to give you a counsel, but He will not tell another man to inform you about the opposite of what He has said. God cannot lie is what the scripture says. The means the Lord spoke to you the first time is the same means He’ll use to speak to you again. Don’t fall for prophets and people who contradict what the Lord has told you, stick to what you heard and to the thing you’re very sure God told you. God respects his chain of communication; He only tells others to caution you when you’re missing the path. But whenever you’re in obedience to the word of God and doing exactly what He has instructed you shun any voice that tells you to do the opposite, the voice to listen to is the one that tells you how to get to your goal and not the one that asks you to disobey.
Prayer of the Day: Lord, I ask that you sharpen my hearing to hear what I need to hear and my eyes are opened to see what I need to see in Jesus name. I receive the grace to differentiate between Your voice and the voice of liars in Jesus name. Amen!
