For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and defiance is like wickedness and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king. 1 Samuel 15:23 NLT
Disobedience disarms men from their right. Anywhere disobedience is present there is diversion of roles. To reject the word of the Lord is to be rejected in life. The word of the Lord makes destinies. Obedience is what shapes destiny and whenever obedience stops destiny folds-up. Disobedience is a barrier to purpose actualization; it discontinues the work and the move of God. Saul’s reign was cut-short because he disobeyed the instructions of God. I want you to bear in mind that divination is the act of playing God to the point of telling what is to come. Future belongs to God and revelation is of the Lord and when people try to foretell tomorrow under the influence of anything or any medium that is not the Holy Spirit of God it is regarded as divination. Rebellion on the other-hand is stiff resistance to established instructions, it is to reject what was said and suggest an option outside of the original instruction, and in other words it is disregarding instruction and creating reasons why you disregarded it. In my dealings with God I have come to understand that it is better to obey first then creating options.
Defiance simply put is to refuse to obey. God said when you refuse to obey it is an act of wickedness and idolatry. He called it wickedness because in every obedience people are lifted and in every disobedience people are equally grounded. Nobody fails alone nor do people succeed alone. Most of Saul’s men and a large number of his household failed and withered out of relevance after his death. Idolatry is the worship of an idol and idol is a graven image or representation that is given reverence or respect which is believed to convey spiritual power. Idols are self-centered, they are personally modified and designed to serve the need of the creator, that is exactly how defiance works to please the disobedient. Obey every word for therein is the good of the land.
