9 “I have seen these people,” the Lord said to Moses, “and they are a stiff-necked people. 10 Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”11 But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God. “Lord,” he said, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? 12 Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people. 13 Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’” 14 Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened. Exodus 11: 9-14 NIV
God made Moses an offer of starting the blessing with him because of the rebellious acts of the children of Israel. Moses wasn’t moved but showed great care for the welfare of the people and for the integrity of God’s name. He defended the interest of the people despite God’s desire to abort them, he stood in the line and reminded God of His promises to their fathers. What a man and what a leader! It’s grave injustice to lead people that you have no care or show concern for. Leadership is centered around care and service to people and defending their interest. It is defending people even when they lack the understanding to comprehend the consequences of their actions. If your heart is selfish please avoid leading others until you work on it. Moses’ actions changed the mind of God. Lead people to show that God has integrity, let your actions show the integrity of God and carry the people’s needs and meet their wants. Don’t be a selfish parent, don’t be a leader with preference for who does what and who doesn’t, don’t try to shut people out, be good and desire to see people do well without trying to be an hindrance.
Prayer of the Day: Thank You Lord for this timely word to me today! Help me not to be selfish in my service to others, help me to be the reason why someone wasn’t destroyed. May my actions bring men closer to You, so help me Lord, amen.
