28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it 29 lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’? 31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. 33 So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:28-33 NKJV

Wishful thinking and desire is not enough to produce realities. You can believe in God all you want, if you’re not working, nothing is going to happen. God does not bless dreams and visions, He blesses the efforts (works) of man towards the actualization of the vision.

In the passage above, Jesus explained the essence of planning. The reason why people fail and things don’t work out is because ‘plan’ is missing. Planning is the road map and the guide that brings you to your destination. Expecting without planning is a waste of faith, faith works fine when planning is in view. Planning will arrange your life for you and protect you from distractions and danger. Planning puts in your hand the power to negotiate your future, it eliminates chance and creates certainty. Hope is good, but don’t hope until you have planned and gone to work. If you believe something, start working to get there. A wise man once said that planning without action is futile, action without planning is fatal. Your dreams will not change your life, your plan will. Don’t plan until you know God’s purpose for your life. Whether you succeed or fail in life will depend on the plan you have and implement.

Today’s thought: “Wishful thinking and desire is not enough to produce realities.”

Keynote: Your dreams will not change your life, your plan will. Don’t plan until you know God’s purpose for your life.

Counsel: Your dreams will not change your life, your plan will

Prayer: I apply for grace, for the ability to plan before running in Jesus’ name. Help me Lord to plan in and with Your will for my life, shield me away from planning outside of Your will and purpose for my life, amen.
