35 with whom the Lord had made a covenant and charged them, saying: “You shall not fear other gods, nor bow down to them nor serve them nor sacrifice to them; 36 but the Lord, who brought you up from the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm, Him you shall fear, Him you shall worship, and to Him you shall offer sacrifice. 37 And the statutes, the ordinances, the law, and the commandment which He wrote for you, you shall be careful to observe forever; you shall not fear other gods. 38 And the covenant that I have made with you, you shall not forget, nor shall you fear other gods. 39 But the Lord your God you shall fear; and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.” 2 Kings 17: 35-39 NKJV

What is a covenant? Covenant is a contract that is either written or spoken that is enforceable by the obedience of man to God. Every spiritual covenant is dependent on the ability of man to see it through, because God is always faithful. If you can hold onto your end will do His part. Every meaningful journey with God is characterized by a covenant, and remember that we said that covenant is a contract that runs as long as man is willing to obey. God told the first human creation not to eat the forbidden fruit and when they broke the contract, they cover was lifted, as long as Abraham obeyed God, left His father’s house and trusted God wholeheartedly, he was established as the father of all nations. Every great journey starts with a covenant. Covenant is divided into two parts, firstly God makes a covenant with you and secondly you make a covenant with God when you’re tired of your situation and desirous of answer, Hannah, the mother of Samuel, made a covenant with God and God honored it. You must figure out where the agreement is coming from, is it coming from God or you? Whichever angle it comes from God will honor it if you are willing and obedient. Dearly beloved, establish yourself in a covenant with God, respect it and your life will never remain the same.

Today’s thought: “When there is an agreement, people know what is expected of them.”
